Sharon has been coaching netball at the Prep school for the past two seasons as well as being involved in the netball department at Sherborne Girls School.
Sharon has had a lengthy career, both as a PE Teacher and as a netball coach and B Award umpire, involving coaching and umpiring at school, County and Regional level. She is the Education Lead for Netball South West, a voluntary role in place to ensure schools have as much support as possible to offer playing opportunities to their students.
The majority of her teaching career was spent at Plymstock School in Plymouth where, 29 years ago, she set up her own Junior Club. The Club grew to a capacity of 160 girls and young women playing netball, starting at Year 1 progressing to Junior and then senior age groups, for which she has received Regional and National Awards. She has also taught, and been Head of Netball at Roedean , Kelly College and Brighton College.
As a teacher, Sharon led her school teams to National Schools’ Finals on two occasions, coming 8th and 11th in the country. Sharon’s ethos is for inclusion for all and she has been involved in Special Schools’ Netball, attending paralympic competitions with her Special School teams.
After moving to Dorset to be nearer to her daughter, Sharon has coached at Sherborne Girls’ and is currently also an England Netball Somerset Academy Coach and Junior Coach at Yeovil Netball Club. Her passion for her sport means that she continues to offer netball playing opportunities to numerous young players at all levels.
