Magi, in year 4 has written, illustrated and published a book called The Adventures of Shing and Shang in Mystery Island to raise money for a charity in India.
'My grandfather wrote a book in India and that inspired me,' Magi told me, 'and my mum, dad and grandparents encouraged me so I felt like I should keep going.'
The characters who Magi said she just 'thought in my mind' go on holiday to China and Magi doesn't have a favourite part, she likes all of the book. And we do too.
Magi has brought some of the books into school to sell to her friends for £1. 'I've printed 100 and only have 2 left!' Magi said, smiling broadly. Interest and sales have been so encouraging that she's having 200 more printed.
'I feel proud,' Magi said after we enthused about how, as a published author, her books were sitting on bookshelves across the world. We feel enormously proud too.
'Do you think you'll write another?' I asked and, of course, the answer was 'Yes! I am working on my other one.'
