A huge thank you to our school community who have raised over £2,600 for School in a Bag. The 130 schoolbags are now on their way to Sierra Leone and will assist children who have very little, to engage more fully in education! This was an amazing achievement which could not have been realised without the kind-hearted nature of our children, the generosity of our parents, and the support of our Parent Association, The Friends of Sherborne Prep who also kindly donated to this worthy charity!
During an insightful and inspiring talk from the CEO and founder of 'School in a Bag,' Luke Simon and volunteer Katie Pratt, the children learnt more about the work the charity does, the countries they have helped, and what a difference the school bags can make. They also learnt about natural disasters around the world and the impact these can have on local communities.
Children then participated in a bag packing activity, where they were split into pairs and were given a 'school bag' to fill with a selection of essential items - including pencils, books, a maths set, washbag and utilities, a lunchbox, a water bottle and other items.
Once again, we feel extremely privileged to support this wonderful charity and are so grateful to our families and staff for their donations.
