Last term, Sherborne Prep warmly welcomed one of the BBC’s Casting Directors to the school to hold auditions for an upcoming TV series, Lord of the Flies.

On Wednesday 1 November, Casting Director, Rose Patrick, with our Head of Drama, Siobhan Cheadle, met with almost 30 of our boys in Years 5 – 8. The boys were asked to learn one of Ralph’s scenes where he notices Piggy has fallen behind and comes down the mountainside.

The auditions were held in our specialised Music and Drama building, Netherton, with each boy given a five-minute time slot to perform Ralph’s scene. ‘You need to keep up!’ and ‘I picked you for the mission’ could be heard repeated throughout the hallways all morning.

There was a buzz in the school as the children were all wondering how they each did, what their auditions were like, what Rose had said, and who they thought would be called back.

If successful at this stage, the boys would be called back and asked to go to London to have a second audition. Out of the many boys who auditioned, we are thrilled that four of our senior boys; Eddie, Digby, Luke, and Herbie were called back for a second interview.

Overall, this was an extraordinary experience and one we as a school, are proud to be able to share with our children!
